Japanese Sashimi

No rice and soup. No repeat of the same dish of pork or fish heads for dinner!! Yes! I had a non-Chinese dinner last night!! What a treat!!

Okay, so I couldn’t find Lexington BBQ. We settled for a Japanese restaurant, complete with sushi bar and teriyaki steak grill. Didn’t have as many come out with us last night, but a couple of us had a wonderful dinner away from the “hotel”. It was a nice diversion. I needed the change!

The Japanese restaurant had a small but very fresh collection of about seven options in sushi. We opted for the tuna, octopus, and clams. All very good. Followed that up with shrimp tempura, beef and chicken teriyaki from the grill, and even were treated to coconut ice cream for desert!! Ice Cream!! YES!! And COCONUT! Delicious!!

We usually eat two large meals in the hotel every day. It gets a little repetitive when I’m there twice a day for seven days a week. The fish comes from the ponds here at the plant. They are quite proud of serving the whole fish on the platter. Chicken every meal from the pens next to the “hotel”. I usually pass on leaning over to look in bowls when they show up. Almost always a bowl of fish heads.

So Japanese was a real treat. And what a deal. For two of us, it cost us 315 yuan renminbi for all the dinner items mentioned above, plus traditional beer and saki. That’s about $38US. Try to get that deal at Benihana!
